Pi Day is just around the corner (3/14), and what better way to celebrate the mathematical constant π than with some delicious treats? Whether you’re bringing them to school, work, or just making them for a fun treat at home, these snacks are simple, fun, and delicious!
Pi Day Pizza
For this, you can either start with making a homemade pizza, or with a premade or frozen plain cheese pizza. From there, it couldn’t be easier – just arrange your toppings in the shape of the pi symbol, π, and bake according to the recipe or instructions!
Classic Pies for Pi Day
Of course, having a pie for Pi Day is a must. But what’s better than one pie? Two pies! Here’s a simple method to get you two distinct pi-themed pies:
- Start with your favorite pie recipe, and follow the steps until topping with crust.
- Roll out your dough to the desired thickness.
- Carefully cut out a pi symbol (π) from the center.
- Place the pi symbol in the center of one pie, and cover the other pie with the remaining dough.
- Bake according to recipe.
It’s as simple as that, and the result is two pi-themed pies!
Tip: Since you can make two pies from this, try doing a classic fruit pie for one and a savory pie (such as a chicken pot pie) for the other!
Pi-Shaped Pretzels
For a fun twist on pi day, try making some pi-shaped pretzels:
- Make your pretzel dough according to the recipe. (Tip: If you’re short on time, try refrigerated biscuit dough instead of pretzel dough!)
- Shape pieces of dough into a pi symbol (π) or parts of a pi symbol.
- Boil in water and baking soda solution for 30 seconds. Remove and set on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. (If you’re doing parts of a pi symbol, pinch the pieces together to form the complete symbol as you lay them on parchment paper.)
- Brush with an egg wash, sprinkle with salt if desired, and bake according to the recipe.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Last-Minute Pi Day Snacks
Need a fun treat but don’t have time to spare? Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered:
Pi-Shaped Chocolates: Melt down chocolate wafers or baking chocolate. Once slightly cool, pour the chocolate into mini pi shapes on parchment paper using a piping bag or spoon. If desired, top with sprinkles or nuts. Serve as mini candies or use as toppings for store-bought cupcakes.
Pi-Shaped Charcuterie: Cut out pi shapes from your favorite charcuterie meats and cheeses. Serve with crackers or pretzels.
When in doubt, you can always arrange things in a pi shape! Spruce up a store-bought cake by topping with raspberries arranged in a pi shape, make a pi-shaped well in a bread bowl and fill with dip, or even arrange your favorite snacks in a pi shape on a table!
